Fall League

Fall is the primary season for field hockey in the United States. We have Saturday games in September and October with two practices a week. We have divisions for grades 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8. Younger players are welcome to play with our partner Great Falls Lacrosse and Field Hockey. Registration opens in June.

Late Winter Program

Outdoor pick-up, small games, umpire and coach training in February.

Spring Season

We have a short spring season with games on Saturdays during April and May. Practice one night a week. Registration opens in early February.

Pick-up games and light workouts in preparation for high school play.  Also, umpire and coach training.

Parent Engagement

The success of all players depends of significant parent participation – especially for our youngest athletes. Parent engagement in all aspects of our program is crucial for the cognitive, emotional, and physical development of all players.

Herndon Reston Youth Field Hockey - Fall 2020 Season

Registration is open for the Herndon Reston Youth Field Hockey (HRYFH) fall season.

As you may expect, this season will be much different than anything we have done in the pas

t. We will not have games against other organizations but instead will focus on small games and skill development. This is an ideal time for new players, both boys and girls, to try field hockey.

This season, players will be placed into one of three age groups: grades 4 through 6; grades 7 and 8; and grades 9 through 12.  Players have the option to pick the weeknight that is best for them - Monday through Thursday.  All groups, regardless of the weeknight picked, will have Saturday sessions – times will be determined by age group.  High school players will have an additional option of attending a free-play session on Sunday evenings.

The season begins on September 14th and ends on November 1st

The cost for the season is $50.

We will limit the number of players per age group per night to about ten.  This not only helps limit exposures to COVID infections but also allows for ample playing and developmental opportunities. If we cannot register at least eight players for each nightly age group, players will have the option of switching to a different night.

All players should have mouth guards and shin guards. This year there is absolutely no sharing of equipment. We have loaner sticks for new players if needed.
